Third Umpire Adian Holdstock was targeted on social media for making a few controversial decisions on day 2 of the first Test between West Indies and Australia in Barbados.

By stumps on day 2, Australia scored 90 runs for the loss of four wickets, leading in their second innings by 82 runs. Previously, the Windies were bowled out for 190 in their first innings and Australia responded by scoring 180.

Meanwhile, while the Test match has been played at a very fast pace, there have been some controversial decisions made while West Indies were batting which has not gone down well with the fans on social media.

They have targeted third umpire Adian Holdstock for making wrong calls as the television umpire and hence changing the context of the game. His decisions against Shai Hope and Windies skipper Roston Chase have been controversial calls criticised by fans on social media.

He adjudged Shai Hope caught behind with the ball clearly touching the ground as shown in the replay. He also ruled Chase out when the replays showing that the ball clearly took a deflection off the bat. On account of Holdstock's poor decisions, the Windies were eventually bowled out for 190 in their first innings when they could have scored a lot more.

Darren Sammy, the Windies head coach, had a few stern words for the third umpire after his series of poor decisions on day 2 of the first Test.

“We are just trying to find some sort of understanding as to what the process is. We only hope for consistency. That's all we could ask for. When there is doubt in something, just be consistent across the board.
“I have noticed, especially with this particular umpire, it's something that for me started in England. It's frustrating. I just ask for consistency in the decision-making,” he added.

24 Wickets Fall Inside Two Days In First Test

Windies are still in the game despite the wrong calls by Adrian Holsctock. The Aussies are already four down and just lead by 82 runs in their second innings. They can get them out cheaply and win the match chasing a lowish total. As many as 24 wickets have fallen in the first two days of the first Test.
