Pakistan and Afghanistan will travel to the United Arab Emirates for a T20I tri-series starting from August 29, with all the matches scheduled in Sharjah.
A total of 7 matches are scheduled, with each team facing the others twice in a round-robin format, and the top two teams playing the final to determine the winners. The first match of the series will have the visitors Afghanistan taking on Pakistan on August 29, followed by the host UAE facing Pakistan the next day.
Tri-Series Set as Warm-Up Ahead of Asia Cup 2025 in UAE
This series is seen as preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which is hosted by the UAE and starts from September 9, two days after the tri-series final. Teams like India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong are expected to arrive on the same day as the tri-series final, as per reports.
The controversial India vs Pakistan match is set to happen as per schedule despite the backlash, as the BCCI is yet to state for clarity with a potential of 3 matches: one in the group stage, one in the Super 4, and one in the final if both teams qualify as Asia Cup 2025 gets underway.
