3 Indian Cricketers Who Have Played for Yorkshire - Now Joined by Ruturaj Gaikwad

  • Sachin Tendulkar

At just 19, Sachin Tendulkar created history by becoming Yorkshire’s first-ever overseas signing. The club had never allowed a non-English player in its ranks before, but Tendulkar’s special talent made him an exception.

He played 16 first-class matches that summer and scored 1,070 runs, including a century. In total, he represented Yorkshire in 35 matches and accumulated 1,671 runs.

  • Yuvraj Singh

One of India’s most explosive white-ball batters of his era, Yuvraj Singh was roped in by Yorkshire for the 2003 season. He joined as a promising overseas player. However, his time with the club was somewhat under the radar. In 12 first-class innings, the southpaw could manage only 145 runs. In the National Cricket League, his performance did not improve much as he scored 169 runs in eight innings at an underwhelming average of 21.12.

  • Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara has had multiple stints with Yorkshire. His classical style of Test batting and his appetite for long innings made him a perfect fit for English conditions. He first joined Yorkshire in 2015 and scored 264 runs in four innings. He returned for a second stint in 2018 but could not replicate the success and amassed just 172 runs in 12 innings.
