Mohammed Yusuf, who has been serving as Pakistan’s batting coach since March, has now resigned from the role ahead of the team's first overseas tour under head coach Mike Hesson.

Mohammed Yusuf Steps Down as Pakistan Batting Coach

In a recent development in Pakistan cricket, Mohammed Yusuf announced that he is stepping down as batting coach. Yusuf, who began his journey as a batting consultant at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Pakistan, officially took on the national batting coach role in March. His first major assignment was the New Zealand tour.

In May, Pakistan appointed Mike Hesson as their head coach . His first assignment was the 3-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which Pakistan won 3-0. Reports suggested that Mohammed Yusuf was not involved in that series.

Yousuf has also announced his resignation from his role at the NCA. With his departure, the PCB is now looking for a suitable replacement who can guide the next generation of Pakistani batters.

PCB Races to Fill Batting Coach Role Ahead of Windies Tour

It is common for support staff changes to occur when a new head coach is appointed. However, in this case, it was specifically highlighted that Mohammed Yusuf chose to resign from his post as batting coach.

Pakistan will tour the West Indies in August for a 3-ODI and 3-T20I series. With Yusuf's resignation, the PCB is under pressure to find a new batting coach before the tour begins. The instability in the coaching setup has been a recurring issue for Pakistan over the past two years. Coaches like Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie have come and gone, often due to disagreements or complications with the board.

The Mike Hesson era has begun on a positive note for the Men in Green. Currently, his support staff includes Ashley Noffke and Hanif Malik, who are handling the batting and bowling departments, respectively.
