IPL 2025 suspended: Throwback to the time when Indian Premier League was stopped midway

IPL 2025 suspended

As on the expected lines, the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025 season) has been suspended due to heightened political tension between India & Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL Governing Body decided unanimously in the best interest of players and franchises on Friday, May 09. For the unversed, the tensions between India & Pakistan escalated after the former carried out precision strikes at the latter's terrorist site camps and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir on May 07.

Ever since India's response, Pakistan has retaliated with attacks on various Indian cities. With most foreign players expressing concerns about safety protocols, BCCI decided in the best interest of each of the 10 teams.

IPL 2025 suspended for one week

As of now, the IPL 2025 season is suspended for one week. Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders. While the BCCI reposes full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders.

At this critical juncture, the BCCI stands firmly with the nation. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, the Armed Forces, and the people of our country. The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation as they lead a resolute response to the recent terrorist attack and the unwarranted aggression by Pakistan’s armed forces.
