Mumbai Indians (MI) new-ball bowlers Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah were right on the money as Gujarat Titans (GT) were off to a very sedate start in the ongoing match 56 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season at the Wankhede Stadium. In pursuit of a 156-run target, MI bowlers made life difficult for the GT batters Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler. MI started with a bang by dismissing Sai Sudarshan for just 5 runs.
GT could not recover from that jolt as Gill and Buttler failed to cut loose in the power play. MI skipper Hardik Pandya was also spot-on with these bowling and field placements. He continued to put pressure on the in-form Buttler and Gill duo, as boundaries were hard to find. Also, with rain continuously drizzling and winds blowing heavily, Bumrah and Boult cashed in on the opportunity by managing to bowl tight lines and lengths.
As of now, the umpires have not gone due to rain. According to the Duckworth-Lewis par score, MI is ahead by 11 runs. If rain washes out play, then in the current situation, MI should win by the D/L method.

MI boss the first half as GT batters struggle for timing
With only 29 runs scored in the power play, GT has struggled to cash in on the power play. However, the good news is that they have lost just one wicket in the power play. Both Shubman Gill and Buttler are set and will look to take GT home by aiming to play sensibly. The duo has started to find some rhythm, as at the halfway stage, GT has lost just one wicket.
